And, even though the car was out of warranty by several weeks, she managed to have Mini cover a broken steering pump. The car was returned washed and ready to motor! I especially appreciate the detailed report I received explaining exactly what was done and the future issues which will need to be addressed.     "MINI of San Diego did not fix the wheel bearing, which is what my visit was for and is covered under warranty. Instead, the dealership claimed it was associated with a separate issue, thereby circumventing warranty coverage. I had to visit an independent auto repair shop and pay $900 for services that should have been covered under warranty. This visit to Mini of San Diego was an insulting and angering waste of time. This sort of practice gives the Mini brand a sickeningly bad name.     "I AM SATISFIED WITH THE SERVICE, BUT WHAT I DO NOT LIKE IS THAT THE REPLACEMENT WARRANTY IS TOTALLY DEPENDANT ON WHAT THE COMPUTER INDICATES. WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED MY MINI I DROVE TO SAN DIEGO AND THE BRAKES WERE VIBRATING, I WENT INTO MINI OF SAN DIEGO AND THE SA TOLD ME THE BRAKES INDICATED I HAD MORE THAN 12 THOUSAND MILES LEFT, I INSISTED THAT SOMEONE TEST DRIVE THE CAR, THEY DID, AND THE CAR WAS FINE. I ALSO WANTED THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS CHANGED, THEY STREAKED REALLY BAD, BUT THE COMPUTER SHOWED THEY WERE CHANGED IN JUNE, SO NO GO. THE TEMP IN AZ WAS 118 DEGREES THE DAY I PURCHASED MY CAR, THE SA ELUDED TO THE FACT THAT I MUST HAVE WET THE BRAKE ROTORS WHEN I WASHED THE CAR BEFORE I LEFT PHOENIX, BUT I DIDN'T WASH THE CAR, MINI OF SCOTTSDALE DID. IN SEPTEMBER I TOOK A TRIP TO PHOENIX AND THE SERVICE VEHICLE LIGHT CAME ON, I CALLED MINI & GOT IN THE NEXT DAY, THE FRONT BRAKES WERE REPLACED. BUT, BECAUSE THE COMPUTER DIDN'T INDICATE THAT I NEEDED BACK BRAKES THEY WERE NOT EVEN CHECKED. A MONTH LATER I HAD TO TAKE THE TIME TO GO BACK TO MINI OF SAN DIEGO TO GET THE REAR BRAKES REPLACED, NO CAR WAS AVAILABLE, I HAD TO WAIT. ANYWAY THE BRAKES & ROTORS WERE REPLACED ONLY AFTER I WAS INSISTANT THAT THEY WERE GRINDING. THE COMPUTER SAID THE BRAKES HAD 8 THOUSAND MILES LEFT. I HAD TO REPEAT MYSELF TO THE SA THAT THE BRAKERS WERE GRINDING, HE FINALLY TOOK THE MINI TO BE CHECKED. THE BRAKES & ROTORS WERE REPLACED. NOW I AM INTERMITTINLY GETTING A WARNING LIGHT & A CHIME, I CALLED MINI OF SAN DIEGO, THE SA TOLD ME IT HAS TO BE ON FOR THEM TO DIANOSE. I HAVEN'T GONE IN.
